Thai Papaya Salad

Ingredients

3 Cups of Shredded Green Papaya

3 Red Bird’s Eye Chillies

3 Green Bird’s Eye Chillies

1 Garlic Clove

1.5 Tbsps. of Paste Sugar or White Sugar

1.5 Tsp. of Shrimp Paste (if it’s too salty may need to reduce the amount)

1 Tbsps. of Concentrated Tamarind Water

2 Tbsps. of Fish Sauce (as per taste)

1.5 Tbsps. of Lime Juice

2 Medium Size of Tomatoes

Instructions

First of all, peel off the papaya skin, chop it on its edges and then cut off finger-long slices of the chopped portions. Keep the chopped papaya aside.

Now, it’s time to prepare some Tam. Take 3 red and green chillies according to your taste, 1 clove of garlic and tamp them in a mortar.

Next, add 3 tablespoons of paste sugar and 1.5 teaspoons of shrimp paste (you may reduce the amount if it’s too salty). Mix these and tamp them again altogether.

After that, add 1 tablespoon of concentrated tamarind water. Next, add 1 tablespoon of fish sauce. Mix and tamp the mixture evenly.

Then, cut one lime and squeeze out the lemon juice into the mixture throwing the lemon skin inside.

Next, add 2 medium-sized tomatoes into it. Smash the mixture again gently.

After that, put the chopped papaya into the mortar and slightly stir with a spoon evenly. You may add some fish sauce to taste if required. The authentic Thai papaya salad is ready to be served!
