Italian Calzone

Ingredients

¾ Cup Warm Water

1 ½ Tsp. Instant Yeast

2 Cups Flour

2 Tsps. Salt

1 Tbsp. Olive Oil

3 Links Italian Sausage

½ Yellow Onion (minced)

½ Tsp. Black Pepper

½ Cup Marinara Sauce

8 Slices Deli Ham

20 Slices Pepperoni

1 Cup Mozzarella

1 Egg Wash + Pinch of Salt

Instructions

First, take ¾ cups of warm water in a bowl. To this, add 1½ teaspoons of instant yeast, 2 cups of flour, 1 ½ teaspoon of salt and mix it well. Now, make dough of the mixture and keep it aside.

Next, take 1 teaspoon of olive oil in a bowl and grease it. Keep the dough in the bowl and let it rest for 1 hour.

Meanwhile, heat a pan on medium flame and add 3 links of Italian sausage. Now, brown the sausages for a couple of minutes. To this, add the minced onion, ½ a teaspoon of salt and ½ a teaspoon of pepper. Cook the ingredients well.

After that, take the dough and coat it with dry flour. Cut it horizontally and vertically into 4 equal pieces. Make dough from each piece and roll into a circular shape. Repeat the process for the other three pieces.

Now, spread ½ a cup of marinara sauce one side of the circular flour base, place 2 slices of deli ham, 6 pieces of sliced pepperoni, cooked sausage and 1 cup of mozzarella as the topping.

Next, spread a little egg wash on the edge of the base. Flip the other side of the base over the stuffing and twist its edges. Place the calzones on a baking tray and spread some egg wash on each of the calzones.

Then, cut a shallow ‘X’ on the top surface of each calzone. Place the calzones in the oven and bake it at 425⁰ F (220⁰ C) for about 15 minutes.
Your tasty calzones are ready to be served!
